Detailed Information

The Cairns City Kennel Club, established in 1952, has evolved to become the largest all breeds and obedience kennel club in Queensland. Affiliated with Dogs Queensland, the club hosts sanctioned conformation shows, obedience, and agility trials throughout the year. With a focus on positive reinforcement training techniques, the club offers dog obedience training classes to the general public, catering to dogs of all shapes and sizes.

Members of the Cairns City Kennel Club share a passion for dogs and engage in various events such as dog shows, sports trials, training sessions, workshops, seminars, and social activities. Operating in accordance with Dogs Queensland’s rules and Code of Ethics, the club is also affiliated with the Canine Control Council of Queensland. The experienced members, some with over 45 years in the ‘dog world,’ provide expert advice on canine husbandry, breeding, showing, grooming, behavior, obedience training, agility, and overall canine care.

Founded by a group of breeders in the Cairns region, the Cairns City Kennel Club has a rich history dating back to 1952. Over the years, the club has expanded its facilities and offerings, moving from public parks to its own venue in 1980. The club’s dedication to promoting responsible dog ownership and fostering a community of dog enthusiasts has made it a prominent organization in the Queensland dog community.
