Detailed Information

The Armidale Animal Shelter, located on Waller Avenue in Armidale, is a compassionate facility dedicated to caring for animals in need of a safe and loving home. Whether the animals are lost, surrendered, or abandoned, the shelter provides a temporary haven for cats and dogs, with the ultimate goal of finding them forever families.

Operating under the authority of the Companion Animals Act, the shelter holds unidentified animals for 7 days and those with identification for 14 days before taking responsibility for rehoming them. In addition to adoption services, the shelter offers a volunteer program where individuals can contribute to the welfare of the animals through activities such as enrichment, social interaction, training, and grooming.

All animals at the Armidale Animal Shelter are desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed, and life-long registered to ensure their well-being and future care. For those interested in adopting a new furry companion or supporting the shelter through volunteering, the shelter can be contacted via phone at 02 6770 3994 or email at animalshelter@armidale.nsw.gov.au.
