Four-eyed fishes

Four-eyed fishes, or Anablepidae, are a small group of freshwater and brackish water fishes living on river estuaries in Central and South America. They are unique in having eyes raised above top of head and divided in two different parts, so that they can see below and above the water surface at the same time. They also bear live young, and curiously can/do only mate on one side, right-"handed" males with left-"handed" females and vice versa . There are three genera and nine speciesThey eat mostly insects and invertibrate and are sold in some pet stores as pet fish.
