The Elephant Nose Fish
The elephant nose fish is a very interesting African fish. They are capable of communicating with each other by sending electrical pulses through the water. They need a soft substrate so that they can dig in it without tearing up their proboscis. This is their natural way of foraging for food. They like soft, slightly acid water, and temperatures in the mid 70's (F). They will grow to be about 10 inches long and need a good variety of high protein foods, preferring live invertebrates. They are generally a peaceful fish and like plenty of cover and tank mates who aren't too active.
