Parrots are often kept as pets, in particularly Conures, Macaws, Amazons, Cockatoos, African Greys, Lovebirds, Cockatiels, Budgerigars, Eclectus,and Parakeets.They have the most varied colouration and are also known to imitate human speech or other sound, which can be very entertaining. The wings are often clipped .Some parrot species, including cockatoos, Amazon parrots, African Grey Parrots and the larger macaws, have very long life spans, of up to 80 years.
The parrots trade is a very thriving and often illegal trade , and therefor some species are now threatened with extinction.
