Brown Pet Spiders
Brown pet spiders are generally known to be the larger and venomous variety of spiders. The most popular under this category would be pet brown recluse spiders, which are known to be venomous, and can cause anything from a welt, or red mark, which might take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks to heal, to severe tissue damage and necrosis. Some other popular brown pet spiders are brown hobo spiders, grass spiders, brown wolf spiders, the garden orb-weaving spider and many others. Generally brown pet spiders are only appropriate for spider owners with extensive experience with spiders.
A pet brown recluse spider is not a good option for beginners, and though they are not as aggressive as other dangerous spiders such as the Brazilian Wandering Spider, or the Black Widow spider, they can cause serious damage. The brown hobo spider would be another venomous brown pet spider choice, and though their bite is not severely damaging, it should be given immediate medical attention.
In case you wish to keep brown pet spider, and have decided on the brown hobo spider, you need to make sure you create a pet spider habitat, which is warm and dry and has provisions for the spider to create its funnel-shaped web. Like most spiders they eat small insects such as roaches, flies, silverfish and many others, so feeding them is a not a problem.
Another option amongst brown pet spiders is the brown wolf spider, which is mostly harmless to humans, though its bite can cause a sharp sting. They are most commonly known to live in burrows in the earth, so you will need to make a deep layer of substrate in the container you store your pet brown wolf spider in. These brown pet spiders also eat almost anything that is smaller than them, which mostly includes insects such as crickets, flies, moths, butterflies and many others.
Now in case you are acquiring a female brown pet spider, you need to be particularly careful of the spider if it is carrying an egg sac, as they tend to get extremely aggressive during this period. Also, since most of these species are native to Australia, you might have difficulty in procuring mates for your pet.
But if you are confident about your spider handling skills and have had experience with keeping spiders as pets, then brown pet spiders are a great choice.
