Red Pet Spiders

Red pet spiders are a good choice for novice spider owners. Red spiders are rarely large or venomous, though it is important not to confuse red spiders with spiders with red markings, such as the Red Back spider, one of the most venomous spiders in the world. Red pet spiders are more often very small in size and are found in abundance around the house. Also, red pet spiders generally require very low maintenance and can be handled quite safely by most spider owners.
Amongst red pet spiders, the red-backed jumping spider, which is not entirely a red spider, is a popular variety. Though not poisonous, these miniature spiders can give you a painful bite. They are easily found out in gardens and woody areas, and are very easy to raise. Also, there are other varieties of red jumping spiders, which are entirely red and equally harmless.
For some spider owners, red pet spiders may seem rather small, but they are best suited for novice spider owners, especially children. Due to their small size, they do not require extensive artificial habitats, and most do not have specific temperature and humidity conditions. You can easily store these spiders in small clear jars, with air holes, and feed them small insects.
While feeding, you have to make sure that the prey is smaller than the spider, or you might end up with a fattened insect and a dead spider. Another aspect of pet spider care is to clean its container. In this regard, red pet spiders are extremely low maintenance, and need cleaning only once or twice in a month. You just have to make sure that the red pet spider does not escape during cleaning. For this purpose, using small fishing nets is a good idea. Just scoop out the spider into a temporary jar and clean out its container and plop it right back,
Unlike larger varieties of spider, such as black pet spiders, red pet spiders are not intimidating in the least, and are a great way to introduce children to spiders. Some of them tend to bite, and may be slightly venomous, which might result in local pain, not more than that of a wasp bite. But it is advisable to not introduce spiders to children who are easily frightened as this could cause harm to both the child and the spider.
The best way to approach pet spider care is to do complete research about the species of spider, as there are several pet spider risks that you need to be aware of. But on the whole, red pet spiders are perfect as first spider pets.
