Pet Spider House
A pet spider house is meant to be very much like any of our homes, clean, safe and comfortable. The best way to achieve all these is to emulate their natural habitat. A pet spider house needs to be dark and easily accessible; most spiders are not high on interacting with humans, and like to hide most of the time. For this purpose you need ensure that the pet spider house has lots of hiding places, which can be easily reached.
Spiders are extremely predatory in nature, and some are also cannibalistic, like tarantulas, so you will have to keep spiders in isolation. Depending on how much space your pet spider species requires, you will need to purchase an appropriate container; fish tanks are the best for this purpose. In case you do not plan to showcase your pet spider, a shoebox is also a good option, this way you can keep your spider in isolation and easily clean the container or even feed your spider.
Most spiders do not require direct sunlight and prefer dark spaces, so make sure you maintain the pet spider house at the ideal temperature and humidity levels for that particular species. In case you have a special display case for the spider you can also decorate it with rocks and plants, just don’t overwhelm the spider. Also, covering the bottom of the pet spider house with materials such as potting soil, Eco earth or even bed-a-beast, allows it to feel more comfortable.
Keeping your pet spider house clean is very essential, and for this purpose you will have to make provisions to hold the spider securely while you clean the house. In case you have a water dish in the pet spider habitat, you will need to clean it regularly. In most cases sprinkling water regularly on the spider’s web is enough water for the spider, but this is only for species that make webs.
Spiders are solitary creatures and do not like to be disturbed, so make sure that the pet spider house is out of the way, and out of reach of small children and other pets. Some spiders are poisonous and bite, this can have varying effects on humans and other animals, so don’t take the risk.
Also, some spider species are not allowed as pets in certain areas, so ensure you are not breaking any laws by keeping a certain species of spider as a pet. To be a successful pet spider owner you will need to do thorough research about the species of spider you are acquiring. This is also very necessary to help construct the ideal pet spider house for your pet.
