Cats

Second only to the dog in popularity as a pet, cats make great pets. Whilst dog people will claim dogs as the most loyal of animals - cats are usually just as loyal though their loyalty may lie in a different place. Dogs live by the code of loyalty to the pack, whilst cats live by the code of loyalty to their food source. So, if you feed them, they will stay. No fence required. So which animal is more loyal then?

Cats interact with humans on a totally different level than just placing humans as part of their pack. For starters, cats tend not to have pack and don't exhibit pack behaviour. Dogs communicate with humans using the same or slightly modified means by which they communicate with each other, whereas cats have an entirely separate set of behaviours reserved for humans alone.  For example, cats rarely if ever meow at each other to communicate, this is reserved solely for humans.

Cat behaviour differes between breeds though it tends to more generic between breeds than with dogs. There are some big exceptions -Savannah cats often LIKE water and will swim. (Editor's note - Savannah cats are prohibited in Australia)
